An Inconvenient Truth

January 14, 2007

I just saw Al Gore’s documentary An Inconvenient Truth and I believe this is something everyone needs to see.

Global Warming is a real problem that we as human beings need to step up to the plate and take responsibility for. The problem is our collective fault and we have the means with which to fix it. An Inconvenient Truth did a good job pulling together a lot of facts and information, of which many of us were already aware, into a concise and effective 100min film. I highly recommend, if you haven’t already, viewing this documentary, or, if have already seen it, getting a group of family and friends together and watching it. You can also find more information about An Inconvenient Truth, and global warming and what you can do, at www.climatecrisis.net/

  1. Good for you for recommending this. I felt the same way after watching AIT on DVD, and have since written a few posts about it on my blog. What has surprised me is how many people reached my posts in an attempt to “debunk” the “myth” of An Inconvenient Truth. Since you are doing cinema and media studies, you might find this aspect intriguing.

  2. It shouldn’t really surprise you too much that there was a lot of “debunking” traffic regarding “An Inconvenient Truth.” It has caused more genuine anger among denialists than any other single event. After all, when James Hansen publishes another paper in Geophysical Research Letters, the public doesn’t notice — but Al Gore has made this issue prominent for the average citizen.

The degree of success of Gore’s movie can be gauged by the degree of outrage expressed by his opponents. And boy, are they outraged! Good going, Al.

  3. Hi tamino,
Good for Al, and thank you for explaining. I am still surprised at the number of contrarians who reach my blog šŸ™‚ I mean, they may be contrary, but it’s amusing that they end up at my posts, of all places, when there are so many experts debunking climate change myths, like these scientists who wrote excellent personal opinions on climate change for the Royal Society.
Oh, and did you read about the sell out in Boise?

  4. You are all liberal biased that movie is a load of crap. Scientist around the world have laughed at this pitiful excuse for a movie, and they have debunked it with scientific evidence… Go ahead, look it up; unless you are so one sided and closed minded that you don’t accept anyone’s opinion but your own or one’s like yours… I have seen the movie; I have done research from both sides, and I can tell you right now, the movie is rubbish!
